Speaker: Razaan Galiel, Manager: Innovation and Training, Cape Mental Health.
We are pleased to welcome Razaan Galiel, Manager of the Innovation & Training Department at Cape Mental Health, who will give a talk on how job seekers with psychosocial disabilities can successfully find and retain employment. Razaan will explain the best ways of using the “reasonable accommodation” provisions of the Employment Equity Act to help achieve these goals.
Cape Mental Health is a leading mental health NGO which has been in existence for 110 years. As the Western Cape’s provincial Mental Health Society, it offers a wide range of mental health services to support people with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities.
Razaan holds Bachelors and Honours degrees in Psychology cum laude from UNISA. Prior to joining Cape Mental Health in 2022 she lived in Abu Dhabi for ten years, where she worked for the SEDRA Foundation for Disabilities as Assistant to the CEO and Project Coordinator and provided support and training for parents with autistic children under the auspices of the Autism Support Network. Now back in South Africa, Razaan is a member of the Western Cape Network on Disabilities Health Task Team, and actively advocates for the rights of persons with disabilities in the employment sector and society in general.
