Date: Monday 24 April 2023
Topic: An evening of Caring and Sharing
Our April meeting will take the form of an evening of Caring and Sharing. We will not have a presentation, but opportunity will be provided for anyone to ask questions, raise concerns, seek advice, make connections, or share positive and encouraging stories.
These meetings are particularly useful for people who have a family member or friend who has recently been diagnosed with schizophrenia. They also present a chance to get to know the circumstances of fellow members a little better.
We have invited Dr Kathleen (Kate) Mawson to be present at the meeting, in order to provide insights to questions raised from a professional perspective.
Kate is a consultant psychiatrist at Tygerberg Hospital and a senior lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at Stellenbosch University. She oversees one of the acute admission wards as well as the Eating Disorders unit at Tygerberg Hospital. Prior to that she was a district psychiatrist and has an enduring interest in community mental health. She is an executive member of SA Society of Psychiatrists Public Sector committee and the mental health representative to the provincial Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
You are invited to send in questions before the time by emailing us on email@example.com; we will do our best to include these on the evening.
Note: the meeting is not recorded, and all issues raised remain confidential.
Please join us on Zoom at 19.00 on Monday 24 April for this event. There is no need to RSVP, just click on the link below to join.
